The 2018 Pest Free Kaipatiki Pest Weed Control Campaign aimed to focus on the "Dirty Duo" of Moth Plant and Wild Ginger to encourage schools and the public at large in the Kaipatiki Local Board area to help eliminate these two prolific pest plants. In 2019, Woolly Nightshade was added to this list.
From 2020, the campaign will aim to prioritise the approx 12 weeds listed in the new RPMP. It recommends the use of the North Shore Forest & Bird Pest Plant Control Guide to identify weeds which are important to remove.
From 2018, PFK has been using the EcoTrack.NZ app. This iNaturalist project was set up as an alternative to allow us to be aware of any weeds reported within Kaipatiki. EcoTrack will remain our primary focus - we don't undertake to follow up any weeds unless they are reported in EcoTrack or advised in writing to PestPlants@pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz
