  1. How do I measure a tree?
    First, measure 1.3 metres vertically up the tree trunk to identify where you will start your circumference measurement. Then take your measuring tape (or string) and wrap it around the entire trunk and mark the first point of overlap. Note the circumference of the trunk (in centimetres) in the iNaturalist app. For a more detailed explanation, you can watch our “How To Measure Your Trees” tutorial from our pilot "NDG Tree Project", here: (but remember to submit your measurements here on iNaturalist!)

  2. My tree has more than one trunk – how do I measure it?
    If your tree has multiple stems, please measure each trunk (at 1.3 metres)
