This project is intended to add to current knowledge of Red Crossbill foraging behavior in North America. With a specific focus on call type ecology, the project only accepts observations where audio was recorded of the foraging birds. To contribute, make an audio recording of a Red Crossbill you see foraging. Then, please either add an observation of the Crossbill(s) with their food or an observation of a plant that you saw the bird(s) foraging on. Then fill out the observation fields "Red Crossbill recording" and "Finch Foraging Item". For the first, post the link to your recording in iNaturalist, Macaulay Library, or Xeno Canto. For the second, simply specify what you saw the Crossbills foraging on (e.g. Engelmann Spruce cones, Sweetgum balls). If you know the call type you recorded or want to assess the food crop for finches in your image, add one of the optional observation fields.
