The purpose of this project is to collect observations from the reefs of South Florida and the Florida Keys. This project can serve as a general guide for the most commonly observed species of fish, corals, sponges and other life found on these reefs. It's important to remember, however, that some species may be common but difficult to photograph and/or easy to overlook and thus might not appear on this project at all!
Please add any observations taken on reefs within this geographical area (including birds seen above the reefs).
Note: the definition of reef used in this project can be loosely interpreted as any place that has coral growing and/or is attracting typical tropical fish/corals/marine life. I am open to editing the description/goal on the project based on input from other iNaturalist users so please message me and let me know what you think would be best!
With that being said, sea grass/mangrove/pelagic ecosystems are not the target for this project so please keep your observations limited to the description above!
