Save Mount Diablo, with permission from Walnut Creek Open Space, will be hosting this year's Bioblitz at Mangini Ranch & Lime Ridge Open Space in Concord/Walnut Creek with special access to the Upper Galindo Creek in Arroyo Del Cerro.
With over 1,400 acres spread across various plant communities, Lime Ridge & Mangini Ranch are hot spots for biological diversity. The last time Save Mount Diablo held a Bioblitz at these locations was in 2008. This repeat event allows us to explore and document ecological succession.
Additionally, in June 2018, a fire swept through and scorched over 300 acres of Lime Ridge. This presents a unique opportunity to study post-fire effects with special attention to fire-following native and invasive species.
