This species is known from several localities in Guinea, Liberia, and Cote d’Ivoire. As currently understood, its range stretches from southeastern Guinea in the Serendou District, across both the Guinean and Liberian sides of Mt. Nimba, to central Cote d’Ivoire at Dabou and Adiopodoumé. It ranges from 0 to 1650 m a.s.l.
It lives in a variety of habitats, having been found in low altitude and montane savannas, lowland and montane tropical forest, and cultivated plantations.
The describing authors raised concerns over potential pressure on Mt. Nimba from mining and related human activities. However, threats for the species across the rest of its range are unknown.
