This species is endemic to the Sierra de Aroa, Venezuela, and is known from a single locality at 1730 m a.s.l. It likely occurs from 1500 to 1945 m a.s.l.
Deforestation and climate change both pose threats to this species. The authors who described the species suggested that there is a high probability that the cloud forests in Sierra de Aroa would be destroyed within the next 20 years, either by deforestation or fire.
