This species is found at the southern end of the Yungas, occurring in the Sierra del Aconquija and Cumbres Calchaquies ranges, Argentina, at elevations from 800 to 2400 m a.s.l.

It lives in alder-dominated cloud forests and montane evergreen rainforest.

Rare.
