Squam Lakes Watershed Invasive Species Spotters

Help the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) assess the presence of invasive terrestrial plants in the Squam Lakes watershed. The SLA is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the natural beauty and resources of the watershed. The SLA partners with volunteers and other conservation groups to identify the locations of invasive plants and to manage the infestations. Using observations from iNaturalist is the first step towards successful management.

The project's invasive species include:

• Round-leaf bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus)
• Japanese knotweed (Fallopia joponica)
• Invasive honeysuckle (Lonicera sp.)
• Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii)
• Autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata)
• Winged euonymus / burning bush (Euonymus alatus)
• Multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora)
