Turtles on beaches.

Following the Cut-off Low winds this weekend, there are lots of reports of Turtles washed up (there should be lots of other organisms as well!! - please record them all).

For turtles:

  • Do not return the turtle to the sea (our waters are too cold: they are unlikely to survive).
  • Do not remove any barnacles from their shells (you will injure them)
  • If it is a large turtle, call the Two Oceans Aquarium for instructions. (if possible stay with the turtle protect to from well-meaning people, dogs and scavengers).
  • If it is a small turtle, take it home, place it in a small dry box, and call the Two Oceans Aquarium.
