Our hope is that this project will encourage you to explore the incredible diversity of life here at the Thomas Darling Preserve. Named for Wilkes-Barre naturalist Thomas Darling, Jr., this preserve attracts interest in every season and protects a groundwater-fed glacial wetland along with one of the state’s largest and healthiest spruce forests. Any observations of plants and animals, including non-native invasive species, that you add to iNaturalist will be available for scientific study and will support the conservation efforts of The Nature Conservancy in Pennsylvania. We're particularly interested in sightings on all our preserves as these data can help us to track changes in the distribution and relative abundance of species over time, as well as phenology (timing of biological events), and help us with the long-term management of our lands across Pennsylvania and beyond.
