I am a naturalist living on Galiano Island, BC. Currently I'm pursuing an MSc in ecology at the University of Victoria, focusing on the implications of seasonal drought for plant and pollinator communities in the southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.

When I am not absorbed in my thesis, I dedicate my time to curating the Biodiversity Galiano project: a community-based initiative to document the flora and fauna of Galiano Island. ( For my work as the curator of this project I was recently acknowledged with an Islands Trust Community Stewardship Award.

The better part of my taxonomic knowledge covers lichens, mosses and vascular plants, but at heart I am a generalist and celebrate all "walks of life." My interests in natural history vary widely, from phenology to evolutionary biology, and were inspired by an unlikely encounter with a lichenologist.
