I am an old fella who is a regular beach runner through Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. I have found things in the last few years both alive and dead (but not at the same time) that have amazed me and encountered some live animals that have touched me deeply. I am particularly interested in cephalopods but have never seen a live wild cephalopod except some Argonaut eggs (either Argonauta argo or A.nodosus).
I like looking at birds and identifying them is fairly easy because we don't have that many different species of beach visitor here, just a million Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae (silver gulls).
I occasionally pick up shell fragments and trying to identify them is difficult.
I have already solved a few long running puzzles by using information on this site and I only found iNaturalist two days ago!
