Spider with tan and black stripes
Elizabeth and I were headed down to the Big Thicket BioBlitz, and we stayed the night at Ethridge Farms Bed and Breakfast. It was super charming and full of fruit trees. We picked quite a few oranges. :)
I put up the blacklight for a little bit this night too. There were several really neat moths that showed up -- new ones for me too!
I'll work on ID's of these observations later on -- I wanted to get them uploaded first. :)
Plecia nearctica. Little-Big Econ State Forest, Seminole County, Florida, USA.
These guys usually just come out at night. They are near a light on the side of our garage. They look almost translucent.
Found in San Marcos (about an hour East-Northeast of San Antonio).
I went out to a local greenbelt park right after some heavy rain and was surprised to see hundreds of milk snails ambling about everywhere. I usually only see a few of them and usually they are hanging dormant on vegetation.
There were so many I had to watch my step to avoid crushing them. I still managed to crunch one while maneuvering to photograph another one. The photos include several individuals.
I posted a short video of one of the snails in motion on YouTube here:
