Stoat on track outside the Karori sanctuary/Zealandia pest proof fence. Very close to where I had seen one 3 years earlier. This one stood up to see me better, then took off up the track.

This area is outside the far end of the sanctuary, well away from houses, next to farmland and regenerating bush.

I placed the trap in the bushes outside my flat for a night and checked on it the following morning, only to find that the hedgehog had entered the trap, eaten all the peanut butter, and left out the same way it came. There are foot prints, in addition to quill marks, in the ink.
