Season 2015/16 is over (Thank you!)

THANK YOU!
I am comfortable enough now to declare that the cicada season is now over. There has not been any new emergence event in the last 3 weeks or so. Adding further weight to this is that nothing has emerged in Sydney after the recent bout of rain.

So I want to thank everyone who took the time over the spring and summer to add observations to this project. Almost 650 observations is incredible and way more than I had originally expected when I started this project!! That is an incredible number when we consider that it wasn't the greatest season (no Double Drummers heard, and only a couple of Cherrynoses, that I was aware of in Sydney).

NOT OVER YET
Things don't end here. In the coming days I will go through every observation in the project and double-check IDs with calls and/or photos. So if you are still needing to add any final observations or attached recordings, then please do so soon. I will then be able to export the records and start having a closer look at the data. I will endeavour to keep you all updated on progress and the stats from the project as they come through so keep checking this page periodically over the next few months.

WHAT ELSE?
There's the best part of 6 months until we start hearing the Silver Princess calling again in September 2016. I do plan to keep this project going for the next season (and possibly subsequent, who knows!!). As it gets closer to September I will be doing a big social media push, and will be encouraging those of you still interested to rally more people to join us.

So thanks again for everyone's hard work. I am quietly confident that there will be some interesting results with the data!
