Summary of the original publication: An up-to-date checklist of the lichens of the Netherlands is presented, including details about rarity and Red Listing. In total, 871 species in 236 genera are listed, including 100 lichenicolous fungi and 14 related non-lichenized ascomycetes. Of the lichens, 101 species are currently thought to be extinct, so that the current known lichen flora of the Netherlands counts 656 species, an increase of about 10% since the previous checklist five years ago
