Probably was a captured young deer. A wild population on Timor none bred at the time of the photo
Young python found whilst it was crossing road at night. A plastic ring was stuck tight around the anterior region of the snake's body. Presumably it accidentally stuck its head through this ring when it was younger/smaller, and could not pull out again. This must have caused some complications in the weeks/months afterwards when swallowing prey. By the time I found this snake, the plastic was causing a significant constriction into it's body. The ring was clipped off and the python was released on the outskirts of Phalaborwa.

The Knysna Warbler has not been seen or heard in Cape Town for at least 5 years, so it was a pleasure to hear it calling this morning!
This guy was in a small pool at the base of a waterfall remarkably high above the Hadlock Pond.
