Called rattlesnake plantain for the pattern on its leaves, these small orchids are found in open dry pine oak heath forests, often near mountain laurel or rosebay rhododendron. Found throughout Hickory Nut Gorge. Difficult to grow in the wildflower garden and will not transplant. Blooms from June to August.
