Cambium removed around areas of Pinus strobus where blister rust previously produced "fruiting bodies". Feeding on mycelia I assumed. Originally had labelled as red sq but so long ago and based on one image of tracks... could have been n. fly sq. Both species very common on property.

Description
My son spotted this sweet, slow little spider on the kitchen floor. I initially took pictures, thinking it was A. americana, and then dropped it in a corner of my bedroom to build a web if it wished. Later, when I looked at the photos, it looked like such a raisin, I thought it had to be another species altogether! After finally deciding it just had to be incredibly dehydrated, I went to see if she was still where I left her. Sure enough, the poor thing hadn't moved. I picked her up and spent the next 15 or so minutes picking up condensation from a drink nearby and letting her drink it from my finger. The first photo is a side-by-side comparison of the before and after. I don't know if she was destined to make it or not, but I tried to give her a little boost. And while I'm not able to get out for spider hunting right now, this was the next best way to spend the first day of Spider Fest 2021!
