It was a very cold morning and I saw this hawk sitting on the fence in the backyard with a piece of fresh kill in its talons. It really fluffed up its feathers because of the cold. It did not start eating for about a half hour after constantly looking around.

Before we saw the mink we noticed a muskrat behaving oddly. I've seen a muskrat (or different muskrats) in this place many times but it is (they are) usually very elusive. Today it was sitting on the edge of the shore, swimming across and sitting on the edge again. Usually I just get a glimpse before it disappears. Didn't stay to watch for an outcome.
