Description

I rescued this cutie from a pool. It sat on my hand for 15 minutes, rubbing itself down with its legs and vibrating its wings until it was dry enough to fly.

Possibly H. ligatus or H. confusus?

Okanagana arctostaphylae was first described in 1915 and has not been collected since. These are the first photos ever taken of it in its natural habitat, and the second photos ever of a live individual.

A female Giant Ichneumon wasp (Megarhyssa macrurus) oviposits into the side of a tree.

Caught while swordfishing in 2000' of water. Released after collecting data. Seam away strong. Local biologist and ichthyologist were unsure of species. No other records of any similar shark observed in Cayman waters.
