Organism was observed while replacing borders around a raised bed, presumably because its habitat was disrupted. It struggled to climb up the soil/substrate that had been packed into an approximately vertical surface, often slipping and falling a bit, though it seemed fine traversing the stone/brick and the surface of the soil. The raised bed housed California native plants, including Fragaria vesca and various Heuchera species. The bricks were approximately 3.5 inches across and 4.5 centimeters tall (yes, different units of measurement, sorry).

Spotted on bank of cattle pond and then scurried into the water. No fencing or containment.

Note: To clarify, all signs indicate this is either a

1. Uncontained pet on private property
2. Deliberately abandoned pet
3. Escaped pet that has managed to travel to this location (if this option, not likely to have travelled far due to rural setting with few homes spaced 1/4mile to 1 mile+ apart and scarce water sources)

The Asiatic lion's habitat is dry scrub land and open deciduous forest. These lions were once found across northern Africa, south west Asia and northern Greece. Now there are only around 523 (census 2015) left in the wild and all of them are in or around the Gir Forest National Park, Gujarat, India
