Substantial patches naturalised in dunes, among marram and Carpobrotus iceplant.
Mites on Sorensenella harvestman. Harvestman observation here: https://inaturalist.nz/observations/122918749
Scattered plants along small waterway/drain.
Has finished flowering but not sure if it will set viable seed.
Laying eggs. Found at Back Beach.
There were about ten of these yellow wasps flying about over a Griselinia litoralis tree in the park. I've not seen this species before.
A single plant growing with Galega officinalis and exotic grasses at the end of River Road beside the Waiohine River
GWA on Rosa rubiginosa (several plants observed with them feeding)
GWA on Ileostylus micranthus. Not sure this has been observed before!?
'woof' at about 32 seconds in. I'm pretty sure this bark (lifted from local dogs?) was added to local repertoire just a few years back, but perhaps it is used elsewhere too?
wild in a rough between the church and neighbour. Seedlings present.
S. columbaria subsp ochroleuchon, I think. Sowing itself in and around a planting of Muehlenbeckia axillaris on a very dry slope.
On uplight
Attracted in to a 160W Sylania HSB-BW bulb.
feeding from flower of Oxalis exilis
The whole hillside was covered in Kiwifruit vine/s. The area probably covered 900msq. It was smothering many trees and shrubs, both native and introduced. I have never seen a bigger vine.
Street corner, original?
Counted 12 coppers on patch of Muehlenbeckia complexa on outskirts of Lincoln
Growing in sheep paddock, in sandy soil close to somewhat boggy area.
Fruit very pineapple-like, but plant has 'bushy' habit with soft fleshy leaves. No sign of spikes.
May be an escapee but no other specimens immediately visible in nearby garden.
Backyard, Karori, Zealandia fence in the background. Trailcam photo (still frames from a 10 second video capture).
Poa cita present, unsure if any Chionocloa nearby. Saw one - a first for me here over many years. Mt Cass.
Aggregating on slime mould
On the 3rd consecutive day it's been spotted at Muriwai.
Growing in the alpine
Small dark moth with very iridescent scales.
They are back.., presumed newly hatched at least 2-3 and slightly smaller than the adults last sighted in March.
Unknown plant with leaf miners
A freshwater sponge from Oakley Creek, Auckland.
Found under a basalt in the fast flowing part of Oakley Creek.
My first thought was freshwater bryozoan but I could see that this was made of fragments of silica which is a typical feature of a sponge.
I am not sure if this is a native species.
There is a very similar species, Ephydatia mulleri in United States so possibly this is it or its relative, which might be introduced.

Apparently this species is first on Inaturalist and also this is the second observation of this family from New Zealand in Inaturalist community.
Unsure which species, but currently my most likely contenders are F. fulgens and F. denticulata.
Found naturalised on a roadside.
2 individuals one smaller than the other a few metres from previous sightings. Also have video and two higher resolution pics. Approx. 10mm long.
Shadbolt Park, New Lynn, Auckland 0600. A few adults beaten from Casuarina cunninghamiana. New to N.Z.!
Approx. 8-10mm long, irridescent blue-green colour.
Occasional plants noted on recently dumped landfill and basaltic rubble. Only depauperate plants seen.

Wind-grass is wild and thriving in our front garden in the area of lawn that our chickens have otherwise scratched bare.
This post is of the same sp.(entity) though not the same specimen, not far from the original find however...

I have scanned through flowers of other groundsels and nothing looks like this really. The ray florets in particular seem not to fit any other sp. So, where to from here?

on Ramarama. Feijoa right next to it isn't affected.
This has been a sentinel tree for me and has been checked fairly regularly over the last few years - this is the first sign of MR
Photographed by Kathleen tibble in her prebbelton garden, first ever sighting of one of these in New Zealand
Albert Park, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010. One adult beetle in the entrance of a tunnel in a dead branch, on the ground under a mature Dutch elm tree (see photo 3). It was just a few metres away from the grapefruit tree on which I have observed several adults now.
Field Notes - Dragonfly emerging from nymph skin. I didnt have my good camera on me so unfortunately couldnt get the photo to focus properly :(. Body was about 5cm long, and quite thick (4-5 mm).
One plant, wild along the base of a front wall by the foot path. I don't remember seeing this species wild before.
If the plant structure looks like S.elegans, the flower definitely does not fit. What am I looking at here?
I really have no idea what this may be. I am thinking maybe some form of the daisy family, any thoughts would be appreciated... =)
Single tree on roadside opposite carpark. Looks planted. Didn't see any wild seedlings around.
white fantail
At least 60 birds (a conservative count).
Growing in pine forest well away from any orchard or garden.
I think this is Goji. lots of this spreading fast by runners. leaf smell bad when crushed. is it a goji? the original would have been planted but it has spread along way and is invading neighbouring properties.
Kereru seen in tree at Sue and Greg Tuckers place
High up cliff face.
