An Eastern Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger), photographed at Independence Park in Livermore, CA. This is its most typical form, with a warm gray coloration above and a deep orange coloration on its tail, ears, face, and underparts. Note that it is a much stouter, more robust squirrel than the gaunt-looking Eastern Gray Squirrel (Scirus carolinensis), with a bushier tail, stouter and larger thighs, and a more inflated face.
Albino ground squirrel!
