Description
Location was in a large, powerful, fast-moving stream near a bridge. At night I went on an 8km hike back up the mountain to find them after having already backpacked 19km on this day. I nearly passed out while photographing them in a dangerous stream. I thought I was just unusually tired from hiking while out of shape, but suffered from intense fever all night and found out the next day that I had Hepatitis E.

I found this gecko at my friends house. I know it’s a gecko/ reptile and not an amphibian is because it was not near water, which amphibians nead to survive.

Counting DORs, this was part of a fairly ridiculous 10 snake species in a day - cal king, desert night, shovelnose, glossy, longnose, coachwhip, patchnose, gopher, rosy, sidewinder. 7 were found in less than 2 hours of road-cruising with the rosy-gopher-patchnose on the crawl the next day.

Beautiful leucistic Cal King found while road cruising in the Mojave! This lavender morph is common in the pet trade but rare to find out in the wild. It was very far from human habitation so it is definitely not an escaped captive bred snake.

Found him in the dense foliage of a stream. I'd never have noticed him if it weren't for his colours which lit him up like a Christmas tree. Was he courting?
