The second picture is of the same cluster 13 days later when the log has been more dry.

Gray day with mild, consistent rain. In beech, oak dominated, deciduous forest.
The bigger one was 13cm or less stretched out. Mating happend on Quercus petraea at around 1,5m height. Mating slugs (of multiple species) don't seem bothered too much by bright light, in my experience.
The whole act took <30min and me dozens of hours worth hiking through the rain to come across some. Didn't help living in a very dry area that with the country being in a several year long drought.. Well worth it though.
