Description

The spectacular HABAR TII’AA “HABAR TIICAA” tree, a Specimen of Dorstenia Gigas or Socotran Fig.

I observed this tree at the Alh Madow Mountain of Maakhir Region.

The breathtaking Habar Tii’aa tree once again caught my attention, this amazing tree with such cucumber like trunk flowers between April – June, and amazingly the whole tree turns to a bunch of flower. The tree belongs’ to the Dragon’s Blood species and is very rare and endemic plant.

I noticed that this Habar Tii’aa tree grows around the Ma’ag “Macag” the lower slopes of Alh Madow 300 – 1600 meters above the sea level, I observed this plant as low as the Haware and Lakaleey areas near Ulheed village and as high as Habasha Awl village that falls at 1600 meters above the sea level.

The tree produces beautifully pinkish flowers, and amazingly the flowering season stays longer than any other plant, where the tree maintains having such adorable flowers for almost 10-12 weeks.
