treegrow Genus Parentia

There's a steady flow of Parentias getting identified from the New World, presumably due to CV suggestions.

This genus does not occur in the Americas, so all New World records are misidentifications. Most of these will probably be Condylostylus, but there are similar looking species in other Sciapodinae genera, especially Mesorhaga, which can be difficult to rule out without a clear view of the wing venation.

" The genus Parentia (Dolichopodidae: Sciapodinae) includes some 70 described species primarily from temperate Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia. "

Thank you very much for the correction. I sometimes forget to check distribution when I ID for myself.,
When I ID for others, I put everything (well, you know, all these look-alikes) in Sciapodinae in the hope that it covers it all- so I should not have propagated the mistake any further :)
