@mark_smale @chrise Do either of you have any insight on this? The majority of observations are from New Zealand, but it seems to be introduced to these locations. Is there a good reason to keep this name?
There seem to be three names in use for this taxon: Lotus suaveolens, L. subbiflorus and L. hispidulus. I note that Plants of the World Online uses L. hispidulus but APNI uses L. subbiflorus. There is also a suggestion that L. hispidulus is "nomen nudum".
NBN Atlas uses L. subbiflorus. In Flora of NZ v.4 there is the comment “doubt remains on the correct application of the available names”.
I think I would go with L. subbiflorus but would like to find some clear reasons.

See also existing flag on L. subbiflorus https://www.inaturalist.org/flags/497119
now, POWO says L. suaveolens is a synonym of L. subbiflorus: http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/results?q=Lotus%20suaveolens
And that L. hispidus = L. palustris and L. parviflorus: http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/results?q=Lotus%20hispidus
So based on this, the drafted swap at https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/83335 would have to be edited to be suaveolens --> subbiflorus
(which fwiw is also what some other sources say too, e.g. PlantNET for NSW)
