The genus name is Ruttyruspolia not Xruttyruspolia - please fix

Can you spell out how it should be spelled in full?

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

The scientific name should be ::

Ruttyruspolia

It must not be spelled out in full. The common name deals with that.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 1 year ago

Ruttyruspolia is not the common name - it is know by its hybrid combination.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 1 year ago

I'm still a little confused, maybe by the name format, if you can clarify further. Also have you seen this taxon change: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxon_changes/123693 and does it affect this?

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

Please read the discussion on the taxon change? - the whole issue is discussed there. I dont think that there is anything more to add.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 1 year ago

Well it's unclear to me. Bear in mind I am trying to complete your request.

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

@bdagley ignore the taxon change, they were merged because POWO did not accept them but Tony has reached out to Rafael and the hybrid should be restored in the next POWO refresh.

At the moment, how to complete the taxon change is unclear to me. That may just because I'm tired, I trust you guys to take it from here. Or if there's anything I can do, explain it more clearly.

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

Yes: this change needs to be done in conjunction with the species name reversal. Best not to do it separately.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 1 year ago

I'm not clear on what you mean by "must not be spelled out in full" relating to the scientific name, but I deleted the common name "Ruttyruspolia." Please explain in clear terms what you wish to be done relating to the scientific name, and bear in mind that only staff can edit this name.

Posted by rynxs about 1 year ago

Who are you talking to? In any case, it's actually still somewhat unclear to me what still needs to be done. Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

If you're referring to my comment, it's addressed to @tonyrebelo

Posted by rynxs about 1 year ago

Good, haha. Sorry I must have taken @tonyrebelo up on his drinking contests tonight, although the request was also unclear in my opinion.

Posted by bdagley about 1 year ago

Thanks: what can be done is done. The rest needs to be by staff. And probably best after the reversion.

Posted by tonyrebelo about 1 year ago

From what I understand, it needs to be changed from Genushybrid ×ruttyruspolia to Genushybrid Ruttyruspolia (as in Graptoveria: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/544768-Graptoveria). Indeed an issue for staff.
