@konstakal have you sent this paper to Plants of the World Online (bi@kew.org)? iNat doesn't follow primary literature.

@rynxs No I haven't. I am not familiar with the procedure

POWO regularly updates their taxonomy according to recently published sources, although it can take them a bit to catch up. Since iNat follows POWO for vascular plant taxonomy, we would much prefer that POWO change their taxonomy first before we make changes that deviate from what they have. Rafaël Govaerts is the botanist/taxonomist that should receive your email.

Essentially, if you wish to push this change through, the best way would be to send an email to bi@kew.org addressed to Rafaël Govaerts linking the paper, and ask if they have seen it or are going to put the change out in a future update. So far, POWO does not have the name Lysimachia loeflingii, so I would guess that they have not yet seen it.

Update: Rafael replied this:

Dear Konstantinos,

Coincidentally I did that yesterday so those changes should be online Monday week.

Best wishes,

Rafaël Govaerts

Swap drafted but not committed.

This may also require a split of Lysimachia arvensis

Posted by rynxs 12 months ago

Yes, it may, but I am not sure on what geographical basis, since it appears to be introduced in so many places.

Posted by kitty12 12 months ago

No geographical basis, both are often sympatric or even coocurring !

yeah unfortunately this will require manual reIDing in cases where eg one ider on an observation went to species only, one went down to variety; many times in Australia I've seen both the orange and blue flowered forms/species growing directly next to each other. I'm going to go through and reID for Australia now

Just re-IDed blue L. arvensis for Canarias & Madeira.
When will the now superfluous Var. arvensis of L. arvensis be cancelled ?
