Vineyard Duskywings: the Genus Erynnis on Martha's Vineyard

The Vineyard has five species of this difficult genus of spread-winged skippers, collectively flying from early spring to late summer and ranging from abundant to vanishingly rare. Keep in mind the duskywings are sexually dimorphic (males and females differ somewhat in appearance). Critical ID features include the translucent "hyaline spots" near the forewing apex: these are large on two species, small on one, and missing on the remaining two.
