Dead on sandy soil. Spruce and poplar.
Observed at Highlands Biological Station. Captured somewhere on the grounds. I cannot be sure of the exact location.
I'm including a photo my friend Brody took at the same location as the "younger" ones we found today. The "younger" ones were there as well as several older ones Brody & Chaney located while I was out-of-town. Unfortunately, the older ones were no where to be found today.
On Celtis laevigata, its host plant.
This specimen was spotted on the underside of a buckeye tree leaf, directly adjacent to a black walnut tree. The caterpillar had begun to lay down silk on it's leaf of choice.
