7-27-14 Platanthera tipuloides var. behringiana...single plant.
Suzi Golodoff re-located this species in the late 1990's or early 2000's. For a detailed description & image of the entire plant see her book: "Wildflowers of Unalaska Island - A Guide to the Flowering Plants of an Aleutian Island" 2003 ISBN: 1-889963-18-6 or the 2nd ed: 978-1-60223-4.
6-27-21 one of 4 Cyps growing in this spot. These are the first I've found so far this spring/summer. It's been cool and very wet. Hopefully that will prevent the introduced Ground Squirrels from eating so many of these orchid flowers this year.
