Thanks to James Stacy for suggesting an ID! I was initially perplexed by this spider as it resembled Hexathele, but appeared to only have four spinnerets. I subsequently acquired a close-up photograph of this species and realised that it does indeed have six spinnerets, one pair is just tiny! 🕷️
Found inside house.
Decent colony sheltering in Agave americana
Looks like D facetus to me but I could be wrong given only observations are in Northland.
Under bridge (suitably trollish)
In ?Yucca, again with Cambridgea (third photo)
In Arthropodium patch alongside Cambridgea (last photo). Spider photo itself didn't work out well!
Absolutely enormous colony that has encased an entire shrub
Again occupying the same plants as Cambridgea
Common in dense vegetation — often the same sort of vegetation occupied by Cambridgea (see last photo for sheetweb in same plant)
Decent little colony off side of decrepit boardwalk
