This is one of only two instances of this shrub that i have seen naturalized to a California chaparral habitat. This specimen is embedded in a well preserved natural chaparral habitat and at least two hundred meters from the nearest landscaped area. The shrub is known for its drought tolerance and is well suited to California chaparral. The height of this specimen is about ninety cm.
Seen in bloom in the riparian zone. The height of this thorny shrub is about 170 cm.
