I have seen these before but this was one of the prettier specimens for sure! You can clearly see where it gets it’s name from with the texture on the stipe.

A new flush of these guys, cold snap tonight probably wiped them out.

Tibiiform cheilocystidia, found under Douglas fir.

Spore measurements: 8.3 - 9.7 x 5.5 - 6.4µm
N = 20
Me = 9 × 5.8 µm

Brilliant orange viscid cap, fragile stipe that is at least 18 cm…and I didn’t even get it all!

Not collected as have from other sites. Fire site 4 (off of 465/466 at junction with 1506), HJA. Fire severity high (red on map). On soil. Lookout Fire ((Sept-Oct 2023).

Tan cap with dark center,
Creamy, decurrent gills,
Stipe lightens towards base,
Growing in moss off trail,
Near sitka spruce

Spores 127-148 X 6-6.5 µm.
15 septate.
Asci 225-245 X 17-18 n=2
Hairs 225-300 x 6-6.5 µm.
