Very small. Approx 4-6 inches. Did not rattle. End of tail was black with small white tip, presumably the “rattle”

Ran in home through front door. Believed it to have been curled up in the door frame for shade and sleep. Porch light is usually on at night where summer bugs gather. Would be a great food source. Yard is lush and also with flower beds, both get watered often in the summer heat in the early mornings.
I was quite glad my foot didn't land on this guy when I stepped over him but he seemed somewhat less appreciative
