If I was looking at someone else’s photos, I’d question whether the 5th and 6th photos were of the same bee. But they are—same flower, same minute. It’s interesting how much a shift in lighting and positioning can affect appearance.
HUGE bee. Tried to get photos of the back but didn't want to scare it from where it landed.
A friend took this picture of a Queen bumblebee in flowers in her Saint Paul garden and asked me to upload it to the Queen Quest project for her.
Bunch of these guys hovering around a massive ant colony. Unsure if related or not.
I saw this bumble bee and a brown-belted this afternoon on our big gooseberry bush. I've been checking the bush a few times every day as it started to flower and this is the first day for bumble bees. I checked a few Wild Plum trees in the neighborhood today too and didn't see any bumble bees. Maybe they are done flowering. Also both bumble bees on this gooseberry bush were carrying pollen.
