Leaf mines on Arctostaphylos rainbowensis.
Complex linear mine leading to petiole, I collected the leaf and part of the twig.
4-mm blotch (with possible egg shell at entrance) leading to narrow linear mine in petiole.
Another narrow linear leaf mine on Arctostaphylos, this one maybe without an obvious exit hole? I collected this leaf and have it in a vial with a bit of moist TP.
Narrow 1-mm leaf mine on Arctostaphylos sp. Per C. Eiseman's book (first edition), I'm thinking this might be "Marmara or possibly Etainia"?
Leaf mines on flowering manazanita shrub, I collected the leaf in case something emerges. Photos of both sides of leaf and backlit.
Two manzanita leaves with linear mines extending into midrib. I have both leaves in vials and hope for something to emerge.
See this observation for another leaf collected from the same shrub at the same time with a larva found at the base of the leaf after dissection:

These mines were common on some of the manzanita shrubs here this morning. I collected this leaf (as well as two other leaves now put into a separate observation) as well as about a couple of inches of twig on either side. There are whiteflies on some of these leaves - those are in a separate observation.
Upon C. Eiseman's recommendation, I dissected the twig and leaf and found a 1-mm larva in the leaf base, photographed it and placed it into 100% ethanol for now.
Another one of these midrib mines on a manzanita leaf (different location) - I also collected this leaf and the adjacent twig.
Host is either big berry or white-leaf manzanita.
