Standing and preening in an open area of a pond at the Great Plains Nature Center
Growing with tradescantia.
Not in high abundance.
Aggressively patrolling. Fighting with Erythemis simplicollis
No flowers or fruits present so beyond the obvious - this is a poroporo I cannot say which of our two species (S. aviculare or S. laciniatum) this observation is. Apparently S. aviculare is the more common in this part of the Wairarapa but S. laciniatum is also known. Cuttings taken to see if I can get flowers.
Perching in the vegetation next to a sidewalk at the Great Plains Nature Center.
Can be abundant, but in very small areas
