Note the slightly pointed snout, pure white belly, 2-3 rows of roundish (not rectangular) dark spots down the back, and the absence of light marking on the center of the tympanum (L. sphenocephala).
The weeds were observed in Lyle E. Littlefield Garden on the University of Maine campus in Orono. The garden was a variety of mulched beds containing various species of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous annuals and perennials. There was a lot of diversity of weeds, yet the beds looked like they have been hand weeded, leaving most areas bare of weeds. There is no evidence of herbicide being applied on the mulch beds or the turfgrass surrounding the beds. #UMainePSE203 #OrnamentalGarden
