No lower leaves. . 1’ high. Smooth round stems. 5 or 6 leaves. What is that thing on top, bud or seed pod?
Sort of like 5 leaved jack in the pulpit.
I photographed the Tardigrade through a microscope (10X 10/0.25). I found it on a submerged oak leaf in a partially frozen vernal pool.

Spotted walking on the ground and lost it in some bushes; re-spotted it climbing down from a tree further down the trail. It's on the opposite side of the tree in this photo but you can see a bit of its tail, body, and one paw.
Dark belly-band, dark throat, caramel colored upper chest, are the field marks I used to ID this to the ssp. level
