We saw these mongooses (mongeese?) several times during walks on the cliff path. They were quite skittish though, and usually only gave glimpses of their tails disappearing into the fynbos.
When I scared this guy off I waited and eventually he came back out of the bushes and got a drink at a little puddle. The light was bad but I'm happy to have gotten some sort of photo.

Initially thought this was a lioness but could be a leopard given what looks likes very pale underside and black markings, suggestive of spots? The fact it was lying up under trees at noon makes lion more likely.
