(2) at least one is male. Hanging on dead leaves in tree. About 20 ft off ground in shade. Temp 72. Part of the 5 that were actually scared out of a tree. All pics the same 2 monarchs.

Description

Up to about 2/3 meters tall. Glandular/viscid with somewhat musky pine-citrus aroma. Growing on highly compacted soil on the E side of Puddingstone Hill, in the San Jose Hills range. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter.
