What

Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia)

Date

January 31, 2020 11:51 AM UTC

Description

It’s a red berry that birds often eat. The birds eating the berries are sufficient because then it gets dispersed to have more toyon created. It has a smooth surface when touching the leaves. That is because there’s a waxy coating to slow down water loss. Thus making it an evergreen and perennial.
