This female is missing a leg. Might be the largest type of spider in the US.

Observation and photo taken during volunteer training at the Tar Pits Museum!
Ya había oscurecido cuando se realizó la observación. El ambiente estaba frío y húmedo. Esta araña se movía lentamente, pero en ciertos momentos corría por el suelo. Su tórax era de color rojo oscuro, su abdomen era de un tono beige y sus delgadas patas eran naranjas.
Arañas conocidas regionalmente como tarántulas. Asociadas en grandes grupos (cientos).
These spiders were congregated on the bottom of a beehive box that had been at cinder block height off the ground. Moving the box around did not make them attempt to flee.
