Old record of Sirocco (hatched 23 March 1997) the Kākāpō from 9th September 2012. I managed to recover this photo from one of my old cameras, which I thought would be an interesting captive record to add to iNat.
We visited Sirocco at Maungatautari Southern Enclosure when he was one of 126 kākāpō remaining. This was a special visit for the Sirocco to the sanctuary, he was part of raising awareness for the kākāpō recovery program with the vision for Maungatautari to be their home in the future. Exciting to see now - 2023 - kākāpō are now roaming the sanctuary!
