Mostly P. contorta and some Sitka spruce in the area. At the edge of the forest where it meets the dune grasses. Stipe base was attached to grass (see pics).
Cap extremely viscid, but seemingly not as conical shaped as S. pseudocyanea description. Stipe also quite viscid. Gills start out pallid/blue, becoming whitish beige. I’m assuming the gills will darken but the specimens were young. Odor is not very peppery, more farinaceous or grassy, similar to Psilocybe sp.
Edit: smell developed into a strong ‘green corn’ smell after aging a bit.
separable pellicle, hygrophanous cap, bluing at foot of stipe
Growing near Abronia latifolia and Ammophila maritima
tiny like 3in, no idea what it is. large jaw put him back in the water
Very large/mature fruiting in a newly developed neighborhood/construction site. Construction began at this location Summer 2022. Recorded the location and returned today(5/5/23). Abundant fruiting surrounding a newly installed lamppost/street lamp(installed during construction Summer 2022).
Microclimate created by heat/vibration from lamps overnight. All fruiting bodies within 3 ft. of lamp post bases. We have noted this occurrence under lampposts with M. importuna for over 10yrs in new developments(most abundant flushes always beneath lampposts).
Note the ladder like/vertically arranged pits.
Harvested all 8 specimens.
Largest fruiting body in this collection weighed in at 3.621oz.
Bisecting and dehydrating all fruits for later culinary use.
Bagging a single dehydrated specimen for herbarium collection/genetic record with this observation.
